RAPID CITY, SD - The hockey season seems far away these days at the ice arena in the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City.
But frustrations are fresh in the Native American community, after Trace O'Connell of Philip was found not-guilty Tuesday of disorderly conduct toward Native students and chaperones at a Rapid City Rush game last January.
Magistrate Judge Eric Strawn ruled that the evidence didn't support the disorderly conduct charge against O'Connell. The ruling is another complication for already challenging work to improve race relations in Rapid City.
