Oliver "Sonny" Gibbs, age 61, of Hinckley, Minnesota began his Journey into the Spirit World on Friday, August 28th, 2015 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s in Duluth, Minnesota.

He was born on April 5, 1954 in Red Lake, Minnesota the son of Oliver Gibbs Sr. & Mary Jourdain.

Oliver was joined in marriage to Diane Pike.

He was formerly employed as a Court Liason for The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe.

Survived by his wife: Diane Gibbs; daughters: Deloris Gibbs, Vanessa (George), Michelle (John) Benjamin and Micheala Leecy; fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren; his mother: Mary Gibbs; a brother: Garrett (Amy) Gibbs; sisters: Diane Beaulieu, Carol (Don) Parisien and Audrey Jourdain; step brothers: George Humphrey III and Jim Humphrey; step sisters: DeLora Humphrey and Sandy (Mark) Fairbanks; numerous nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his father Oliver Gibbs Sr., his step father George Humphrey, brothers Gordy & Sheldon and by sisters Ramona “Monzie” and Jean Funeral services for Oliver Gibbs will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at The Lake Lena Community Center in Sandstone, Minnesota. Lee Staples will officiate. Interment will follow at Steven’s Lake Cemetery in Sandstone, Minnesota

An all night wake will be held on Monday, August 31st beginning at 6:00 P.M. at The Lake Lena Community Center in Sandstone, Minnesota.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be Jimmy Scholtes, DeWayne Pike, Darrick William Jr., Lawrence “Roadz” Gibbs, Hunter Parisien, Todd Parisien, Neil Buckanaga Jr., Johnny Sundahl, Don Parisien Sr. , Willie Strong,

Garrett Gibbs Sr., Allen Pemberton, Arnold Pemberton Jr. and Julius “Toady” Thunder.

Casket Bearers will be George LaFave III, John Benjamin, Mike Loud, George Humphrey III, Jorge Castillo and Anthony Gibbs Sr.
