Albert "Binger" King, "Zhashagi" which means "Blue Heron", age 83, of Redby, MN began his journey to the spirit world on Tuesday, August 4th from Sanford Hospital in Bemidji with his family by his side. Albert was born in Red Lake, MN on April 11, 1932, the son of Albert Greeley and Nina King.

Shortly after graduating high school, Binger joined the United States Army. Binger was assigned to the Battery A, 8th Artillery Battalion as a Heavy Weapons Infantryman and a Heavy Vehicle Driver from 1952 to 1955. He was a Korean War Vet. It was his time in war that earned him the Korean Service Ribbon, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars. After leaving the military Binger spent most of his time as an outdoorsman. He worked as a commercial fisherman for most of his life and loved every minute of it. As expected, he was an avid fisherman and hunter. He guided many hunting and fishing tours in the Red Lake area. Binger loved reading, he was always reading western books and he read the newspaper every day. He also like doing crossword puzzles. Binger was a very social man who liked his quarts. He was a very busy man and was always into something. He will be greatly missed.

Binger journeyed home to his parents; Albert and Nina, daughters; Alberta "Webby" and Roselyn King, Vicki Jo and Kimberly Rose Kingbird and Ramona "Bunny" Strong, brothers; Ernest, Joe, Dan, Archie and Donald King, sisters; Rose and Louise Lussier, grandsons; Royal King, Brandon Olson and Harley Sayers, great granddaughter; Karley Sayers, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He leaves behind his sons; Verlin "Itto" (Shelly) Kingbird, Sr. of Redby, James "Yum" Kingbird of Bemidji, Delbert "Dean" Kingbird and Patrick "Otis" Norquay both of Redby, and Ronald King of Minneapolis, daughters; Brenda Sayers of Red Lake, Thelma "Toes" (Brian) King of Ponemah and Yvette "Eva" Kingbird of Redby, Faye (Randy) King and Lorraine (Brian) Olson both of Warroad and Theresa (Ernesto) King of Minneapolis, sister; Loretta Pacheco of Redby, 43 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and many other friends and relatives.

A wake for Binger will begin at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, August 8th and continue until his 10:00 a.m. service on Monday, August 10th all being held at the Redby Community Center in Redby. Steve Jackson will be his spiritual leader. Helping to lay Binger to rest are Ben Roybal, John Roybal, Donald Roybal, Jason King, Warren King, Rob "Big Rob" Kingbird, Barry King, Matthew Kingbird and Jim Kingbird. Alternate pallbearers are Barry Oakgrove and Rob "Lil Rob" Kingbird. His honorary pallbearers are Albert Roybal, Simon Roybal, Dondie Roybal, Troy Cook, Avery Kingbird, Martha Smith, Kelly King, Verlin Kingbird, Jr., Tiffany Kingbird, Ronald "Ringo" Smith, Nano Kingbird, Miranda Graves, Leigh Garrigan, Jasinda Kingbird, Terri White, Lamont King, Louis King, Shelda King, Daniel King and Nina King. Interment will be in the Kingbird Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah.
