PRIMARY FUNCTION

Responsible for all aspects of the Court Administration are operating effectively and efficiently. Overseeing the supervision of subordinate clerks in providing direction and supervision with the Civil Court and Juvenile Court; insuring that each is functioning properly fulfilling their duties and responsibilities. Full-time position with benefits, reporting to Court Administrator. Salary; DOQ.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for providing administrative support to the Judges and ensures that all area of the Court's jurisdiction are properly functioning

• Maintains a record of all proceedings of the Court and prepares all Court documents, complaints, subpoenas, warrants, commitments and other documents incidental to the lawful function of the Court

• Arranges courtroom for hearings, trials and/or meetings

• Reads complaints in criminal and juvenile proceedings and administers oaths to witnesses

• Prepares and maintains proper docket files on all cases before the Court

• Responsible for the daily upkeep of the Court docket as well as seeing that other areas of the Court are in compliance

• Prepares statistical reporting to the Criminal Adult Docket as well as oversees other areas of the Court

• Prepares all Mental Health petitions for the Mental Health Board's review

• Prepares transcripts for appeals and other related matters

• Acts as a Receptionist and routes calls. Greets and assists the public regarding inquiries involving Court business

• Collects, receipts and accounts for all court financial transactions

• Receives and distributes all incoming mail as well as dates all legal motions before the Court

• Responsible for monthly submission of Court statistics

• Responsible for Juror and Witness management

• Performs others duties as assigned

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

• High School diploma or equivalent; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Knowledge and skill in the use of standard office equipment

• Knowledgeable in the use of computers using various software (i.e., Wordperfect, MS Word, Excel and Lotus)

• Possess excellent communication and verbal skills

• Possess excellent organizational skills in handling multiple tasks

• Possess the ability to work without close supervision and work collaboratively with other employees and the public

• Must be able to handle stressful situations in a professional manner

• Must adhere to and have knowledge of the Data Privacy Act

• Employment contingent upon passing pre-employment Drug Testing

• The Red Lake Nation Tribal Courts has a zero tolerance policy on drugs/alcohol
