Lisa Ann Kingbird, 52, "Makwa Ikwe" which means "Bear Woman", of Ponemah and the Eagle Clan, began her spiritual journey from the Sanford Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota on July 30, 2015. She was born to Kenneth and Olive (Johnson) Kingbird on November 24, 1962 in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Lisa grew up and attended school in St. Paul, graduating from Como High School in 1979. She and her family moved to Ponemah right after she graduated. In her younger years she worked as a teacher's aide with the Ponemah Head Start program. Lisa enjoyed being at home. She liked watching the morning shows, her soap operas and cooking shows. She really enjoyed taking rides with Curtis to see her grandchildren, or just to cruise around. Lisa was a strong willed woman who loved nothing more than spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

The family that Lisa joins are her parents; Kenneth and Olive, brother; Michael Kingbird, sister; Karen Kingbird and a niece; Sheila Kingbird.

She leaves behind her son; Kelly (Samantha) Kingbird, Sr. of Ponemah, daughters; Leann (Torrey) Kingbird and Jolene (Derrick) Barrett both of Red Lake, brother; Clayton Kingbird of Ponemah, her significant other of 10 years, Curtis Ringhand, sisters; Sandy Kingbird of Ponemah and Debbie (Harold) Kingbird of Red Lake, nine grandchildren; Leah, Derrick Jr., Aaron, Delaney, Gabriel, Jayci, Kelly Jr., DeAnthony and one grandson on the way, nieces, nephews, other relatives and her friends.

A wake for Lisa will begin at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 1st and continue until her 10:00 a.m. service on Monday, August 3rd all being held at the Boys and Girls Club in Ponemah. Steve Jackson will be her Spiritual Leader. Lisa's pallbearers will be Gerald Kingbird, Sr., Jason Graves, Andrew Kingbird, Sr., Zach Kingbird, Kelly Kingbird, Sr., Gary Jackson, Jr., Derrick Oliver and Darrell Black. The alternate pallbearer will be Torrey Brown. Her honorary pallbearers are Rose Johnson, Peggy Owens, Patricia Owens, Valencia Smith, Jodi Johnson, Wendy Johnson, Brenda Johnson, Patty Kingbird and Bonita Kingbird. Interment will be in the Kingbird Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah following her Monday service.
