YOUTH BASEBALL: Northern Heat 10-year-olds heading to World Series

CHADRON, Neb. — The Bemidji Northern Heat U-10 team is off to the Cal Ripken World Series, as they defeated North Platte, Neb., 14-4 in a five-inning run-ruled game to win the Midwest Plains Regional title.

The Northern Heat went 3-1 in the National Pool and earned a spot in bracket play as the No. 2 seed out of their pool.

They beat Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, 10-0, topped North Platte 11-7, defeated Kennett, Mo., 8-6 and lost the final pool play game 9-5 to Big Bend, Iowa.
