Shoni Schimmel still shines amid slow second season with Atlanta Dream, thanks fans for All-Star votes

In her basketball biography, Shoni Schimmel -- the energetic, flashy basketball talent who grew up on Umatilla Indian Reservation and played and wowed fans at Franklin High School -- will be credited with two All-Star appearances in her first two seasons in WNBA, a mark of a promising young player. However, for Schimmel it's been maintaining popularity, her significance among her fans, that has led to her second consecutive All-Star game.

Schimmel describes her second season with the Dream as a roller coaster ride. At the beginning of the season, after being projected a starter, Schimmel was yanked from the starting lineup. Schimmel had conditioning issues, and coach Michael Cooper needed an in-shape Schimmel to run his offense, he told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
