Federal investigation looks at Marshall's treatment of American Indian remains

A federal investigation is underway at Marshall University: The U.S. Department of the Interior is determining whether or not the school has properly and respectfully handled the bones of American Indians.

Proper inventory and homes for the human remains are required under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act: NAGPRA.

Meghan Howard is a graduate of Marshall University's anthropology department.
