Bruce Wade Stately, 61, "Manido Makwa" which means "Great Spirit Bear" of the Bear Clan entered the spirit world on July 17, 2015 from Welch, Minnesota. Bruce was born May 7, 1954 in Red Lake, the son of Leonard Alvin, Sr. and Vivian (Thunder) Stately.

Bruce was a laborer of carpentry and masonry most of his life. He love to fish and hunt with his buddy Darwin. They had the stories to tell. Always had us laughing. When he was able to, he love to Grass dance and was a champion dancer in his young days. Bruce was known as the "flying uncle". He was forever teasing everyone.

The family that he joins are his parents; Leonard, Sr. and Vivian Stately, son; Lee Prentice, brothers; Alvin, Robin, Bubba and David, a baby sister; and grandparents; Otto Thunder, Emma Holtstem Johnson and Angeline Stately and several nieces and nephews.

Family he leaves behind are his daughters; Melissa and Tonya Good and Megan Stately, brothers; Gary (Phyllis) Thunder, Guy A. (Diane) Stately, Sr., Gordon (Marlys) Johnson, Ted (Flora) Graves and Keith (Jackie) Defoe, sisters; Ida Marlene (John) Stately, Diane Roy, Tina (Ed) Stately and Angela (Elias) Hernandez, three grandsons, three granddaughters and two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

An overnight wake for Bruce will begin at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 21st and continue until his traditional service at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 22nd all being held at the Redby Community Center in Redby. Steve Jackson will be his Spiritual Leader. Helping to lay Bruce to rest will be his nephews Robin John Roy, Floyd Iceman, Tyrone Thunder, Golden Eagle Stately, Rain Stately, Corey Stately and Zach Stately. Alternate pallbearers are Sean Thunder and Guy A. Stately, Jr. His honorary pallbearers are John Wells, Darwin Stately, Doreen Wells, Wayne Clark, John A. Smith, Mike Defoe, Byron Kingbird and Curtis Iceman. Interment will be in the Stately Burial Grounds (Cutoff) at Redby following the Wednesday service.
