Kevin Charles Red Bear, age 67 of Minneapolis Journeyed to the Spirit World on Tuesday, July 14th, 2015 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

He was born on July 23, 1947 in Old Cheyenne River Sioux Agency the son of Henry A. Red Bear and Louise Clown. He was a fourth generation of Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse. Kevin grew up on a ranch in Thunder Butte, South Dakota on the Cheyenne River Sioux Indian Reservation.

He loved bull riding, hunting, fishing, he loved to sing and play guitar. Kevin was a family man and served Jesus Christ. He was a very loving and caring person for anyone and would give you his last dollar.

Kevin served his Country in the United States Army as a Private during the Vietnam War.

In his early years he attended barber school in Dallas, Texas and worked as a barber, a telephone line man and a CHR on the reservation. He later attended the Vo-Tech in Rapid City, South Dakota to become a carpenter. In his later years he worked as the Assistant Director of the Cornerstone Rescue Mission in Rapid City, South Dakota. He served on many boards and committees within the American Indian Community in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Throughout his life and as a servant to Jesus Christ he also held many church services and revivals within the five state area including Canada.

Survived by his wife of forty-four years Wendy Red Bear; a sister: Roseanne Mitchell; children: (sons): Jason Red Bear, Lucas Red Bear, Conway Red Bear, Nicholas Red Bear, and Zacheriah Red Bear; (adopted son): William Knapp; (daughters): La Costa Awad and Brooke Red Bear;

thirty three grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his (parents) Henry and Louise Red Bear, (sisters): Lila Hale and Loretta Runs After; (brothers): Emmanuel Red Bear, Hilmer Red Bear, Wayne Red Bear, John Red Bear and William Red Bear and by (a daughter): Lee Marie Red Bear.

Funeral services for Kevin Charles Red Bear will be held on Monday, July 20th at 10:00 A.M. at The American Indian Center in Minneapolis. Pastor Tom Valtierra will officiate. Special music Native American Hymns and Gospels. Interment will follow at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at 12:45 P.M. Assembly Area #4.

All night wake will be held on Sunday, June 19th beginning at 2:00 P.M. at The American Indian Center in Minneapolis.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be Nasr Awad, Christian Red Bear, Mark Red Bear Sr., Pierre Red Bear, Johnny Smith, Andrew Smith, Allen Little Eagle, Marlon Hunt, Junior American Horse, Chuck Sutton, Ralph Papa Squash, Junior Hale, Cliff Garbow, Sunny Richards, Jim Ferguson, Demon Red Bear, Terry Handboy and Emmanual Red Bear Jr.

Casket Bearers Jason Red Bear, Lucas Red Bear, Conway Red Bear, Nicholas Red Bear, Steve Needham, William Knapp, Jonathan Red Bear, Dusty Holliday, Gaylon Little Eagle and Zacheriah Red Bear.
