Dorothy Millar, 82, of Bemidji, MN died Friday, July 10, 2015 at Havenwood Care Center, Bemidji.

Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at First Lutheran Church, Bemidji with Pastor Linnea Papke-Larson officiating. A time of sharing will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Bemidji.

Dorothy Jean Fredrickson was born February 19, 1933 in Bemidji, MN to Clifford and Cora Fredrickson. She grew up and went to school in Solway. She married Thomas Burton Millar, June 18, 1948. She started her college education after being a wife and mother for a number of years. She graduated with a teaching degree and continued her education to receive her master's degree. She taught special learning students at Red Lake, MN for her entire teaching career. She was an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Christian Women's Group. She enjoyed teaching people to knit and crochet. She spent many years knitting mittens and donating them to local kindergarten classes. She was affectionately known as the "anonymous mitten lady."

She is survived by her children, Clifford (Kip) Millar (Paula) of Pasco, WA,Richard (Rick) Millar (Peggy) of Turtle River, Susan Millar-Skaar of Rogers, Ross Millar (Deanna) of Clarissa and Sarah Millar-Finlayson (Jim) of Bemidji; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas Millar; brothers, Clifton and Manley and sister, Ardell.
