Robert "Bob" Benais, 47, of Red Lake, Minnesota, passed away on July 2, 2015 in Red Lake. He was born on August 29, 1967 in Red Lake, the son of Albert, Sr. and Josephine (Akewanzie) Benais.

Bob spent a lot of his time fixing things, he could fix anything, cars, houses, anything! He was outdoorsman who loved being in the wilderness all the time and really liked to fish. Bob was a great freehand artist and would give his work to his family to enjoy. He liked to do crafty things like making mirrors and often would teach people how to do birch bark crafts. Bob was a very good cook who could make amazing frybread. He also liked going to the casino, often times running into family there. Family was what he liked best, he would walk around visiting them all the time.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents; Albert, Sr. and Josephine, sons; Quinten and Joshua Bellanger, sisters; Angeline Cutbank and Marian Smith, niece; Carmen Vallie, cousin; Gary Smith, Jr. and his grandparents.

He leaves behind his sons; Robert "Bobby", Jr., Jacob and Trevor Benais, Brian and Matthew Bellanger, sisters; Jean Benais, Karen LaJeunesse, Shirley Benais and Delores Fineday, brothers; Albert, Jr. and Peter Benais, aunt; Grace, uncles; Alfred, Joe and Stanley Benais, seven grandchildren, significant other; Sheila Lussier, many nieces, nephews, cousin and friends.

A wake for Bob will begin at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 7th at the New Little Rock Community Center in Red Lake and continue there until his 4:00 p.m. service on Thursday, July 9th at St. Mary's Catholic Church also in Red Lake. Father Jerry Rogers will officiate. Pallbearers for Bob are Frank Barrett, Gene Barrett, Luke LaJeunesse, Myron Benais, Randy Benais, Terry Benais, Christopher Erickson and James Parkhurst, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Giles Strong, Gary LaFontaine, Jr., Darcy Benais, Wilbert Tate, George Benais and Joe Benais. Interment will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Church at Red Lake following his Thursday service.
