Gregory “Ode” Sumner, “ASIN” (Rock), 49, of Red Lake, MN died Friday, July 3, 2015 at his home.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 9, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Red Lake, MN with Fr. Jerry Rogers officiating. A wake will begin at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at the Old Little Rock Community Center and will continue until the service. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Red Lake.

Gregory James Sumner was born April 21, 1966 in Red Lake, MN to Richard and Mary (Redeagle) Sumner Sr. When he was younger he was avid in sports, football, softball and baseball. He was a fisherman. Greg assisted as a coach for Little Rock and the Hooligans softball team. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Helped raise and provide for his nieces and nephews as if they were his own children. He made friends everywhere he went. Liked going to the casino. Greg was always happy, joking and was the life of the party.

He is survived by his sisters, Simone (Matthew) Sumner, Melanie Sumner, Thelma (Bill) May, Billie Jean (Jim) Redeagle, Rita Beaulieu; brothers, Preston Sumner, Richard Sumner Jr., Bryan Sumner, Rod Spears Sr., Ger Beaulieu, Douglas (Lori) Beaulieu, Derek Beaulieu Sr., Tom (Karen) Sumner, Henry (Ann) Sumner Jr. and Emery Beaulieu; 55 nieces and nephews including special nieces and nephews, Mistie Sumner, DeAnthony Gonzalez, Autumn (Justin) Beaulieu, Marcus “Juno” Yanez Jr., Mataeya Sumner, Carmine Sumner and Simone M.A. Sumner; uncles, Burt (Doyla) Redeagle and Joe Sumner; aunts, Cecelia Redeagle, Manette (Marquist) Redeagle and Betty Beaulieu; special aunt, Patsy Maxwell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Mary Sumner Sr.; brothers, Lester “Moe” Sumner and Brian Sumner; foster brothers, Carter Redeagle and Brian Redeagle; maternal grandparents, John and Mary Redeagle; paternal grandparents, Simon and Angeline Sumner; sister-in-law, Michelle Spears; aunt, Jean Redeagle; uncles, Ed Sumner and Henry “Stretch” Sumner; special uncle, Douglas Cloud and several other aunts and uncles and niece, MariJane Natewa.
