Patricia Mae Hardy, of the Bullhead Clan, whose Indian name was Giiwebinaashiik, which means “Northwind Lady”, 66, of Ponemah, MN, died Friday, June 19, 2015 at the Red Lake Indian Hospital in Red Lake, MN

Traditional Indian Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at the Boys and Girls Club in Ponemah, MN with Spiritual Leader Steven Jackson, officiating. A wake will begin Tuesday, June 23, 2015 in the afternoon at the Boys and Girls Club and will continue until the service. Burial will be in the Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah, MN. Cease Funeral Home of Blackduck assisted the family with arrangements.

Active Pallbearers will be Doug Buckanaga, Kevin Buckanaga, Joseph Iceman, Gary Spears, Jr., Brett Dow and Jonathon Hardy. Honorary pallbearers will be Delores Cloud Hammitt, Shelda Lussier, Carol Marton, Melinda Spears and all her friends.

She was born on August 22, 1948 in Red Lake, MN to Clarence and Theresa (Johnson) Hardy. She attended schools in Ponemah and Red Lake, graduating from Red Lake High School in 1966. She enlisted in the US Army on September 13, 1966 and served in the Women’s Army Corp. She received the Good Conduct Medal and national Defense Service medal and was honorably discharged on September 13, 1969 with the rank of SP4. She also attended Brigham Young University. She retired from the Red Lake School District after teaching for 35 years. She especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Minnesota Teacher’s Association.

She is survived by her husband, Edward Dow, of Ponemah; two daughters, Michelle (Fred Carroll) Hardy of Minneapolis and Jocelyn Dow of Ponemah; five grandchildren, Barry Dow, Alyssa Dow, Darwin Begay, Sharon Begay and Irene Begay and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Eric and Barry Dow; a brother, Clayton Hardy and a sister, Sharon Hardy.
