George Mitchell, age 79, of Minneapolis journeyed to the Spirit World on June 1, 2015.

He was born on June 14, 1936 in White Earth, MN

George was the co-founder of the American Indian Movement and had great love and pride for his people. He was a believer of Indigenous Rights and had a Warrior's Spirit.

He is survived by a son Charles Mitchell, daughters Raven Mitchell and Melinda Mitchell, a sister Rose, 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

All night wake will begin at 7 PM on June 9 at Church of Blessed Kateri in Minneapolis. Members of the American Indian Movement will officiate.

Honorary casket bearers are all his family and friends and members of the American Indian Movement.
