Nolan Gene Desjarlait, Jr. (May May Gway Sii), 10 of Red Lake, MN passed on to the spirit world on Friday, May 29, 2015 at Sanford Fargo Medical Center.

Traditional funeral services will begin at 10:00 am, Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at the Red Lake Humanities Building in Red Lake with Steve Jackson officiating. A wake will begin at 11:00 am, Monday, June 1, 2015 at the Red Lake Humanities Building and go until the time of the service on Wednesday. Interment will be at the Family Burial Grounds in Red Lake under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

Nolan, Jr. was born into the Bear Clan on April 25, 2005 in Bemidji, MN the son of Nolan and Nicole (Johnson) Desjarlait, Sr. Nolan, Jr loved his "peanut", his baby sister Skylar. He loved to read to her and jump on the sofa with her. He was teaching her how to play basketball. Nolan, Jr. had a most unseperable bond with his sisters. He was his sister Alexis' biggest fan. He cherished them both dearly. Nolan, Jr. was especially close to his Uncle Brian and Uncle Jim. He loved his Grandma Mona time, when it was just the two of them. Grandpa Bubba was showing him how to hunt. Nolan, Jr. was astronomical-his spirit, attitude and when he would lead he would lead with pride and a smile on his face. He got the crowd going at the Red Lake Warriors and Lady Warriors Basketball games chanting "Defense - Red Lake Warriors, Here we go Warriors, Here We Go!". He had the dance moves at all the games. He was an avid crowd pleaser, dribbling and shooting buckets when he could during time-outs and half-time. At a visiting school, the crowd began chanting MVP! MVP! As he sat down, he then got up and waved to the crowd. Nolan, Jr. was team captain of the Red Lake Little Warriors Basketball team, coached by his father Nolan, which he started when he was in 2nd grade and continued on just finishing his 4th grade season. The Little Warriors traveled throughout Minnesota competing in their respected grade level tournaments, winning championships with Nolan, Jr. leading them. Nolan, Jr. displayed leadership and encouraged others. He had a 3 point shot and dribble like you have never seen. He had the magic hands. Nolan, Jr. was an avid baseball player and was a member of the Red Lake Ogichidaag Baseball Team which participates in the Cal Ripken League, Junior Division which was coached by his father Nolan. He excelled in all activities he participated in. Nolan, Jr. received most improved and perfect attendance award at Red Lake Elementary. Nolan, Jr. was well on his way to becoming the best. Nolan, Jr. lit up the room with his bright spirit, passion and energy. He lived life to the fullest. He made everyone laugh. He had the best personality. He was loved by so many people and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his parents Nolan and Nicole Desjarlait, Sr.; sisters Alexis and Skylar Desjarlait; special cousin Ashlen Roy; his "bros" The Red Lake Little Warriors - Gerald Kingbird, Jr., Brayden Beaulieu, Joshua Graves, Isaiah Graves, Ken Fox III, Chase Lussier, Jr., Austin Mendez, Keith Caldwell, Jariden Dudley, Riley Chaboyea, Derrell Pemberton and Cade Beaulieu-His Squad; grandparents Ramona and Leo Desjarlait, Jr., Glendoris Johnson and Dino Perkins; great grandmothers Roseadell Johnson and Priscilla Stately; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and the Red Lake Bombers' Family. He was preceded in death by his great grandparents Leo and Ramona "Tiny" Desjarlait, Sr. and Clyde and Grace Perkins, Sr., Dellis Johnson, uncle Marlon Johnson and baby cousin Sunshine Prentice.

Honorary Casketbearers will be Showy Prentice, Laura Fairbanks, Tanya Holthusen,Tom Desjarlait, Brian Desjarlait, Charles Prentice, Jr., Joe Perkins, Red Lake Boys and Girls Club Staff, Red Lake Little Warriors, The Bombers' family and all the Red Lake Boys and Girls Basketball teams. Active Casketbearers will be Challenge Johnson, Gerald Kingbird, Sr., Robert "Earl" Fairbanks, Al "Pork" Beaulieu, Arn Pemberton, Harold Graves Jr., and alternates Matt Graves and Solomon Desjarlait.
