Two arrested in Paul Bunyan Task Force meth buy

BEMIDJI—A Cass Lake man and woman are facing felony drug sale charges after they were arrested in a Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force drug buy. More than 16 grams of methamphetamine were seized.

Cherie Kay Kingbird, 33, and Michael Wayne Fairbanks, 40, both of Cass Lake have been connected to methamphetamine sales in Bemidji. According to a criminal complaint, Kingbird is accused of selling approximately 4.2 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant in a Bemidji mall parking lot on March 27; $350 of Paul Bunyan Task Force buy funds were used to pay for the transaction.

The informant brought a baggie containing a white crystalline substance to task force agents, who field tested the substance. It tested positive for methamphetamine, court documents said.
