GOLF: Bagley advances in Section 8A finals

DETROIT LAKES — The Bagley boys golf team and several area individuals advanced to the 8A section meet after finishing high enough in the South Sub-Section Tournament, which took place Thursday at Forest Hills Golf Club in Detroit Lakes.

Fosston championed the boys Sub-Section with a 353 while Bagley took second with a 364.

Cass Lake-Bena and Red Lake took fifth and sixth with a 392 and a 453, respectively.

Fosston took first on the girls’ side, while Red Lake took third with a score of 447, 17 strokes behind second place Fertile-Beltrami.

Bagley and CL-B didn’t have enough members to have a team score on the girls side.

Individually, Bagley junior Travis Willberg took second with an 86 and Jack Laudon tied for third with an 87.

Cass Lake-Bena eighth grader Coltin Mitchell and junior Kyle Pemberton advanced to boys sections as individuals.

For the girls, Bagley senior Kylie Bergh (95), Red Lake seniors Tatianna McClain (101) and Brenna Pemberton (106), as well as Cass Lake-Bena senior Miranda Opsal-Richards (103) scored high enough to advance to sections.

The section tournament is Wednesday at Bemidji Town and Country Club.
