Search Warrant results in 7 arrests

On May 20, 2015 the Red Lake Department of Public Safety served simultaneous search warrants at two separate Redby residences for the unlawful sale and possession of illegal drugs. During the search officers seized over a half pound of hybrid marijuana, methamphetamine and distribution materials consistent with sales operations. In addition, cash and weapons were seized as well.

The warrant resulted in the arrest of 5 females ages 24, 52, 30, 22, 17 and 2 males aged 24 and 28. Charges resulted in unlawful sales, possession and child endangerment.

The sale and distribution of marijuana is illegal on Red Lake Reservation. The department will continue to enforce all illegal activities involving the unlawful sale, use and possession of illegal drugs and narcotics (opiates-opium based) and prescription pills. To date, the department has successfully served over 40 drug related search warrants in the last 18 months with success. Search warrants resulted in the seizure of illegal drugs and weapons, narcotics, prescription pills methamphetamine and thousands of dollars from cash sales and unfortunately information from some search warrants cannot be published due to ongoing criminal investigations.
