New Video Highlights Tar Sands Threat to the Great Lakes

Thousands will participate in the Tar Sands Resistance March in the Twin Cities on June 6th to keep tar sands out of their communities and protect land, water, health, and climate

Minneapolis, MN – In the lead-up to what is expected to be the largest anti-tar sands event ever to take place in the Midwest, a new video released today by MN350 highlights the threats posed to the Great Lakes by the fossil fuel industry.

The video describes the industry’s plans to dramatically increase the amount of dirty tar sands running through the Midwest through projects like the Alberta Clipper tar sands pipeline expansion, which threaten land, water, health, and climate. This underscores the importance of the growing, region-wide movement to block the expansion of dirty fossil fuel infrastructure in the region.

As part of that movement, thousands of people plan to attend the Tar Sands Resistance March, a march and rally to call on decision makers at the local, state, and national levels to oppose tar sands expansion and take action on climate.
