UNITY Announces San Manuel Band of Mission Indians as a Major Sponsor of the National UNITY Conference

Mesa, AZ - UNITY, which stands for United National Indian Tribal Youth, Inc., is pleased to announce the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians as a major sponsor of the 2015 National UNITY Conference. Nearly 1,500 Native American youth from across Indian Country are expected to gather in our nation's capital this summer to participate in the annual National UNITY Conference taking place July 10-14, 2015 at the Renaissance Washington, DC Downtown Hotel.

UNITY is a national organization that promotes personal development, citizenship, and leadership among American Indian and Alaska Native youth between the ages of 14 to 24. With one of the largest and oldest American Indian youth leadership networks in North America, UNITY has 155 affiliated youth councils in 35 states. Youth councils are sponsored by tribes, Alaska Native villages, high schools, colleges and other community organizations.

“UNITY is truly grateful for the $50,000 support from the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, which empowers the organization to increase its outreach with its goal to serve more tribal communities and their young people. With additional support, we envision today’s young Native men and women accepting the challenge to become change agents, rising to the occasion and righting the wrongs that currently exist to ensure a bright future for all Native people,” said Mary Kim Titla, San Carlos Apache, UNITY Executive Director.

For 39 years the National UNITY Conference has brought Native Youth Leaders to cities all across the United States to participate in a drug and alcohol free setting. The youth led five-day conference will have a packed agenda including motivational messages, team-building exercises, health and fitness activities, cultural exchange, workshops, banquet, and a closing commitment ceremony.
