Melvin Feather, Sr. age 82, of the Bear Clan, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2015 at his home in Red Lake. He was born on March 18, 1933 in Red Lake, the son of Wayne and Carrie (Cane) Feather.

Melvin was a Grass Dancer and loved to dance when he was younger. He liked spending time with his grandchildren. Melvin had a nick name for each one and would always joke around with them. He liked to sing when he was at home. He also enjoyed watching movies, going to the casinos, and pow-wows. Sometimes he would sit at home and just enjoy the quite time. Melvin was a very outgoing person who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; Carrie and Wayne, sons; Darrell, Douglas, and Dominic, daughter; Dawn and infant daughter and infant son, grandsons; Anthony, and Travis, great granddaughters; Kaitlyn and Veronica, brother; Albert, sisters; Gladys and Cordelia, nieces; Violet Roy and Jane Blue, numerous nieces and nephews.

Those Melvin leaves behind to cherish his memory include his sons; Melvin (Ramona) Feather, and Duane Feather, daughters; Carolyn (Ivan Yellow) Feather and Delores Yellow all of Red Lake, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

A wake for Melvin will begin at 10:00 a.m., Sunday, May 10, 2015 at the Little Rock Community Center in Red Lake and will continue until the 2:00 p.m., service on Tuesday, May 12, at St. Mary's Catholic Church also in Red Lake. Father Jerry Rogers will officiate. Pallbearers for Melvin will be Adrian Feather, Brandon Cloud, Ryan Feather, Melvin Feather III, Duane Feather-Yellow, and Daryl Barrett. Alternate pallbearers will be Steve Brown and Dominic Yellow. Honorary pallbearers will be all his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Interment will be held in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery following the service.
