New Report: Senators Franken and Klobuchar Protect Families from Pollution

Sierra Club releases nationwide baseball-themed Congressional scouting report

MINNESOTA-- Today, with baseball season upon us and the 114th Congress in full swing, the Sierra Club released “Scouting the 114th Congress: Polluters Are Out Of Their League,” a new report examining how this Congress and Senator Al Franken and Senator Amy Klobuchar have performed so far. The season in Washington is young, but Americans have already seen far too many attacks on clean air and clean water, as big polluter-backed politicians. But Senators Franken and Klobuchar have continued to stand up against these attacks--to protect the health and safety of Minnesota communities.

“My son suffers from asthma, and so it means a lot to me that Senators Franken and Klobuchar have hit nothing but home runs for Minnesota families like mine,” said Karen Monahan, Senior Organizing Representative for Sierra Club in Minnesota. “Their votes have supported lifesaving protections that keep my community safe and my family healthy.”

The new report rates select Senators on 12 votes and actions taken so far in the 114th Congress, including key votes on climate action, clean energy, and clean air. You can find out more here, including vote descriptions and key quotes from Senators Franken and Klobuchar on the most pressing issues. These votes offer a preview of what to expect throughout the next two years, as a polluter-backed Congress that received upwards of $721 million in oil, gas, and coal backing continues to attack safeguards that protect American families and communities.
