New Hope snack maker recalls pine nuts across U.S. after salmonella detection

A Twin Cities maker of popular snacks is recalling one of its products and shutting down production of the item after a salmonella contamination was detected.

The recall, announced Monday by Waymouth Farms, of New Hope, covers various-sized packages of Good Sense raw pine nuts distributed nationwide through stores and by mail order. No illnesses have been reported.

“Routine testing by the [U.S. Food and Drug Administration] revealed the presence of salmonella in a 4-ounce package,” the recall announcement read. “Production of the pine nuts has been suspended while Waymouth Farms Inc. continues their investigation as to the source of the problem.”
