High fire danger rating for Beltrami County, region

BEMIDJI—Much of Beltrami County is now listed in the high to very high fire danger rating from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

Dry conditions persist throughout region, according to a Facebook post from Beltrami County Emergency Management. There is a minimal chance of precipitation Tuesday, but less than a tenth of an inch is forecast, and temperatures will remain in the mid- to high 60s the rest of the week, according to the National Weather Service.

Fires can start and spread quickly under these conditions, the post said, and anyone doing any type of burning outside of a defined recreation fire is required to have a permit.
