Building strong in Cass Lake: Leech Lake Band breaks ground on two community facilities

CASS LAKE -- Two new additions were committed to Cass Lake’s changing cityscape Monday morning as ground was broken for a new Tribal Justice Center and a new Leech Lake Care Facility.

Members of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe’s Tribal Council and Residential Business Committee picked up gilded shovels in less-than-ideal temperatures and dug into ceremonial dirt for the groundbreaking on Monday. Both buildings are anticipated to be completed in 2016.

A groundbreaking and blessing for the justice center started the morning’s events.
