Red Lake School District #38 is accepting applications for the following position:

Position Title: Grade K-8 Dean of Students and Data Coach

Supervisor: Principal

Building: Assigned to the Ponemah School Complex for the 2015-16 School Year

Bargaining Group: Education Minnesota – Red Lake

Terms: Per Teachers' Master Agreement

Qualifications: Current Minnesota Teaching Licensure, one to three years supervisory experience, management experience in organization of similar size, and coursework in school administration preferred.

Position Overview: Responsible for overseeing the managerial responsibilities of the school including student supervision and discipline, facilities management, non-licensed staff supervision, transportation, and co-curricular school activities. Required to assume a leadership role on the school improvement team and act as a liaison to the superintendent or other administrator in absence of the building principal. Expected to identify managerial situations in need of resolution; and respond accordingly with an effective course of action. Responsible for fostering strong, collaborative relationships within the school, district and community that support students' academic success.

In addition, this individual will work closely with staff to develop and maintain data collection and analysis practices that drive effective instruction; will facilitate staff development of professional staff to enable the use of data to differentiate instruction, including interventions in reading, writing, and mathematics. Oversight of the administration of assessments will also be required.

Major Position Duties:

REGULAR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee the supervision and discipline of students.

• Provide disciplinary support to students who have not been successfully deescalated or others who exhibit inappropriate behaviors; applying the Code of Conduct

• Collaborate with parents and families to strengthen relationships and address student disciplinary issues

• Lead efforts to improve student conduct building wide

• Establish, in collaboration with the building principal, expectations for all staff relative to the discipline and supervision of students

• Oversee student attendance in collaboration with the Home School Liaison • Evidence the Code of Conduct is being applied

• Documentation of student discipline reports

• Evidence relationships with parents and students relative to discipline have improved

• Reduction in the number of student discipline referrals

Manage daily facility operations • Maintain a safe and secure building in collaboration with the Facilities Management Director

• Ensure schedules are maintained for regular classes and special events

• Manage the disaster preparation and drills in collaboration with the Facilities Management Director

• Oversee co-curricular student activities and special events • Evidence of successful safety checks and walk-through observations with Facilities Management Director

• Records and other documentation of daily schedules and events

• Documentation of required drills

Supervise non-licensed staff • Provide leadership to clerical staff

• Provide leadership to custodial and security staff in collaboration with the Facilities Management Director

• Develop and monitor the schedules and assignments of non-licensed staff

• Foster strong interpersonal relationships with non-licensed staff

• Secure substitutes for assigned staff members • Evidence of successful interaction with students in these areas as cited in student/client schedules/records, referrals (or lack thereof), and parent conferences.

Coordinate transportation

• Oversee the transportation operations at the Ponemah School Complex in collaboration with the Transportation Director • Evidence of timely and safe transport of students from the Transportation Director

Serve on the school leadership team and other district committees as assigned • Support the implementation of school and district improvement efforts • Meeting agendas and notes

• Evidence of the completion of action plan activities

Develop and maintain data practices • Design data collection and analysis practices

• Ensure the implementation of data practices that influence instructional practices and result in improved student learning • Evidence of data practices such as coaching protocols, meeting agendas, or peer conferences

• Record of Continuous Improvement documenting the fidelity of implementation of instructional practices

• Student achievement data

Facilitate professional staff • Provide meaningful professional learning experiences for fellow staff members in the use of data including collection, analysis, synthesis and application.

• Guide staff in the use of data to differentiate instruction

• Support staff in the development and use of interventions in reading, writing and mathematics

• Collaborate with the building principal to implement effective Professional Learning Teams (PLTs) building-wide

• Meeting agendas or facilitation notes

• Practice profiles for interventions or strategies

• PLT notes or other protocols

Provide oversight assessment administration

• Provide leadership on the District's Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment (CIA) Committee

• Plan for and administer required assessments in collaboration with the District CIA coordinator

• Meeting agendas and notes

• Evidence of successful administration of FAST and MCA assessments

Engage in professional growth opportunities • Design and implement a performance review plan targeted at a specific professional growth goal • Record of Continuous Improvement or other professional growth plan

PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Stand, walk, bend over, kneel, crouch, reach, overhead, grasp, push, and pull. Move, lift, and/or carry up to 30 lbs. to should height.

2. Repetitive use of hands (i.e. fine manipulation, simple grasping, and power grasping).

3. Stand, sit, and/or walk for extended periods of time.

4. Demonstrates normal depth perception.

5. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard or typewriter, operate standard office equipment, and use a telephone.

6. See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without visual aids.

VERIFCATION OF COMPETENCY:

1. District application and professional resume completed

2. Provide documentation of licensure credentials.

3. Provide the letters of reference from education professionals.
