Red Lake School District #38 is accepting applications for the following position:

JOB TITLE: Alternative Learning Center (ALC)/ Juvenile Detention Center (JDC)/ Homebound Teacher

REPORTS TO: Secondary Complex 9-12 Principal

TERMS: Per Teachers' Master Agreement

JOB PURPOSE: This teacher will provide direct instruction and facilitate learning within students within the ALC, JDC, and Homebound programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The teacher shall:

1. Possess a valid Minnesota Driver's license and provide a personal vehicle for their transportation to and from all assignments (Mileage will be provided when traveling on assigned duties.)

2. Have completed an accredited licensure program and possess Minnesota licensure (7-12) in core subject areas (i.e. mathematics, language arts, social studies, science) or special education.

3. Demonstrate knowledge of:

o Red Lake High School Curriculum

o Minnesota graduation standards

o All computer based programs and software applications utilized

o Requirements for providing services within the JDC and Homebound settings.

4. Demonstrate ability to use a wide variety of instructional practices, approaches, methods, and curriculum materials,

5. Demonstrate ability to use a variety of assessments that derive data for progress monitoring that drives instruction,

6. Demonstrate an understanding of differentiated instruction to meet the needs of students with diverse learning styles.

7. Collaborate with the 6-12 Academic Dean, Building/ Complex level principal, and home school liaisons

8. Demonstrate an ability to effectively interpret formative and summative data,

9. Demonstrate superior oral and written communication and interpersonal skills,

10. Demonstrate an ability and willingness to build relationships with all stakeholders in a manner conducive to learning.

11. Demonstrate knowledge about Red Lake Nation culture and communities,

12. Fulfill requirements for mandatory background check,

13. Have good moral character and a strong work ethic.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. The teacher will provide direct instruction and online instruction to students assigned to the ALC/ JDC/ Homebound programs.

2. Maintain the comprehensive attendance and academic records of students within their assignment in both written and digital formats (various forms of data is reported daily, weekly, quarterly, and semester)

3. Participate in collaborative planning with the 6-12 Academic Dean, Building/ 6-8 and 9-12 Principals, and home school liaisons to create individualized plans of study and coordinated interventions

4. Abide by collaborative decision making process

5. Participate in Student Support Team when determined appropriate by the Academic Dean

6. Gather, organize, synthesize and present data to diverse audiences,

7. Effectively interpret formative and summative data, communicate results, problem solve and work collaboratively to significantly impact instructional practices and student achievement to support Minnesota Standards,

8. Promote a school accepted philosophy, supported by research and theory, that integrates technology and best practices,

9. Utilize various forms of data to inform and guide instruction through data discussions with the principal and academic dean to meet the needs of a diverse student population.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITY FUNCTIONS:

o To service and instruction to students in several different locations. With the exception of the ALC, services will be provided at locations removed from the three district campuses. This will require the teacher to be able to provide their own transportation between those sites throughout the duration of each day.

o Meeting all required deadlines for reporting information and data.

o Accurate reporting of teacher mileage at the conclusion of each pay period.

o Complete and submit weekly student contact, attendance, and achievement reports.

o Coordinates instructional sessions with homebound students.

o Collaborate with 6-12 Academic Dean for the enrollment and dismissal of all students with the JDC and Homebound programs.

o Assist the 6-12 Academic Dean in coordinating the execution of required standardized assessments for JDC and Homebound students.

o Collects and analyzes data to guide program direction and emphasis.

o Report to ALC to assist in instruction during the times that JDC or Homebound service is not necessary.

o Monitors student academic performance, behavior and attendance and implements appropriate interventions.
