Barbara Jean (Smodell-Krueth) Bucher ,66, of Tenstrike, MN died Friday, April 17, 2015 at Sanford Fargo Medical Center from injuries caused by an accident.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Friday, April 24, 2015 at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Bemidji, Minnesota with Rev. Genelle Netland officiating. Visitation will be 4 – 7 pm Thursday at the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Frohn Eastside Cemetery in rural Bemidji.

Barb was born October 12, 1948 in Bemidji, MN the daughter of Clifford and Irene (Hensel) Smodell. She moved with her family to Barrett, Minnesota when she was in 2nd grade, where she was raised and educated. She graduated from Barrett High School in 1966 and later graduated from Bemidji State University with a degree in education, social studies and civics. Barb began to teach history and social studies at the Red Lake High School in 1977 and retired in 2006 after 29 years of dedicated education to her students. Barb loved being a class advisor for 21 years, taking student groups with the Close Up program on numerous trips. She married Roger Bucher in Bemidji on Dec. 24, 1992. Barb also was an avid hunter, fisherwoman, gardener, and loved doing anything outdoors. Her family was the most important thing in her life.

She is survived by her husband Roger of Tenstrike,

2 sisters – Linda (Dennis) Barbour of Northome, MN,

Stephanie (Robert) Busch of Lino Lakes, MN,

3 nieces – Goddaughter- Rena Hanks, Erin Storbeck and Michelle Dickey,

5 great nieces and nephews – Payton, Lorelie, Connor, Jayce and Bailey,

aunt- Carol Aenne of Tenstrike,

uncles – Jim Hensel and Rollie Hensel of Bemidji.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and 2 sisters- JoAnn and Deborah.

Casketbearers will be Jason Headstrom, Steve Turner, John Vinje, Gary Lechner, Ryan Storbeck, and Randy Pippert.
