Samuel Jones, Jr., 75, of Cass Lake, Minnesota passed away Monday, March 30, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Walker, MN. He was born, the son of Samuel and Jeanette (Ortley) Jones, on December 8, 1939 in Ponsford, Minnesota.

Sam was raised in Pine Point, Ponsford and attended the Pine Point School and Park Rapids High School. He joined the United States Army in 1958 and stationed in Berlin during his two years in the military. After returning to Minnesota he worked for the housing office in Pine Point. Sam moved to Minneapolis and worked for the Cedar Box Company and at the Metrodome for a number of years. He will be missed dearly by everyone.

Those who passed on before him are his parents; Samuel, Sr. and Jeanette, sisters; Delphine St. Clair, Frances Rock, Dorothy Axdahl and Theresa Leftwich, brother; Steven Jones and two infant siblings.

Sam is survived by his sister, Mary Beckett of Cass Lake, nieces; Donna Bunker and Gina Cobenais both of Cass Lake, special nephew; Royce Beckett of Cass Lake, many other nieces, nephews, many cousins and friends.

An overnight wake for Sam will begin at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 4th and continue until his 11:00 a.m. service on Monday, April 6th all being held at the Old Pine Point School in Ponford, Minnesota. Father Joseph Hippas will officiate. Sam's pallbearers will be Duane "Bud" Axdahl, Royce Beckett, Francis Rock, Jr., George Bunker, Dakota Beckett and William Rock. Alternate pallbearer is Lee Bunker. His honorary pallbearers are all his nieces, nephews and cousins. Interment will be in St. Theodore's Catholic Cemetery at Pine Point immediately following the Monday service.
