Tulalip man charged for buying firearm used in school shooting

A member of the Tulalip Tribes of Washington has been charged for buying a gun that was used in a fatal school shooting last year.

Raymond Lee Fryberg Jr., 42, was indicted on one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. The complaint alleges that he acquired five fireams -- including the pistol used in the October 24 shooting at the Marysville-Pilchuck High School -- despite being under a domestic violence protection order in tribal court.

According to the complaint, Fryberg purchased the firearms at Cabela’s, a privately-owned company with a location on the reservation. The store requires buyers to state whether they are currently subject to a domestic violence protection order.
