As she cleans the puddle of pee on her living room floor, Erie resident Amy Simms snickers at the high-pitched squeaks coming from the guilty party excitedly wagging its tail behind her.
The Erie Middle School teacher can't be mad at the 3-month-old mutt, Bella, for making a mess — she's too cute and accident clean-up has become part of Simms' daily routine.
In November, Simms volunteered to coordinate Colorado adoptions for LightShine Canine, a nonprofit that rescues dogs from Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.
