Warriors advance with 82-66 win over Mahnomen - P17

Section 8A East Semifinal – #4 Mahnomen 66 vs. #1 Red Lake 82

The Red Lake Warriors withstood a furious Mahnomen rally in the second half to advance in East Sub-Section 8A. The Warriors held a 46-30 lead at halftime, but Mahnomen started the second half on a 16-4 run and cut the deficit to 50-46. Red Lake was able to get back on track with a 9-2 run of their own and was able to hang on for their second win of the season against the Indians. Russell Kingbird hit five three pointers in the first half and led the Warriors with 19 points. Jeremy Martin came off the Red Lake bench and recorded a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Rob McClain added 14 points for the Warriors as they improved their overall record to 21-5. The Indians had five players in double figures and were led by Luke Warnsholz with 15 points. The two teams shot a combined 41-57 at the free throw line. Red Lake advances to the East Sub-Section 8A Championship game Tuesday against the Fosston Greyhounds (6:00 pm on 96.7). The Warriors and Greyhounds did not play each other during the regular season. Mahnomen ends their season with an overall record of 16-10.
