RED LAKE NATION TRIBAL COURTS

OPEN: March 19, 2015

CLOSING: April 2, 2015 @ 3:00 p.m.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Under the supervision of the Chief Prosecutor, performs various clerical support functions for the prosecution staff. Responsible for ensuring subpoenas are prepared and sent out, assisting in setting up and or maintaining case files, may fill in as requested in other areas as needed. Full-time position w/benefits, salary; DOQ. (Employment length; 12 months-grant funding.)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for ensuring all subpoenas are prepared and sent out for necessary hearings, Judge and Jury Trials.

• Distributes approved complaints to the appropriate court clerk to calendar or issue a warrant.

• Assist the Prosecution staff in tasks they need to prepare for hearings and or trials.

• Update case files after each court hearing and ensure everything is completed (i.e., subpoenas, discovery requests, etc.) before returning file to appropriate place.

• Upon completion of a case, ensure the disposition is entered correctly into the system.

• Perform a variety of clerical support tasks such as typing forms, copying, faxing, filing and answering phones.

• Assists in maintaining an efficient and effective records management system.

• Generates reports and responds to inquiries as requested from the public, Law Enforcement, Lay Advocates, Attorneys, and Public Defenders.

• Maintain confidential information.

• Other job related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.

• Three to six months related experience and or training.

• Excellent organizational skills in handling multiple tasks.

• Excellent verbal and written skills.

• Ability to handle stressful situations in a professional manner.

• Adhere to and have knowledge of the Data Privacy Act.

• Must be of high moral character to uphold the integrity of the court.

• Computer knowledgeable in using various software and other office machines used in the courtroom, including transcribing machines.

• Must have knowledge of the Red Lake Tribal Code and Ordinances.

• This position requires passage of a comprehensive background check.

• Employment contingent upon passing pre-employment Drug Testing.
