Barbara Ann "Barbie" Gurno, 50 years old, of Red Lake, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at the Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN. She was born on August 6, 1964, in Red Lake, the daughter of Frank A. Gurno, Sr. and Ellen (Norcross) Gurno.

Barbie liked going to the casino, going for rides, being at pow-wows, listening to music, but most of all being with and caring for her family and friends.

Those family members she joins again are her parents; Frank and Ellen, sister; Cheryl, brother; Franklyn, special friend; Angela Brown, uncles; Brian, Darryl and Dave Gurno, nephews; Romeo Cloud and Joseph Maxwell, Jr.

Family she leaves behind to cherish her memory include her special nieces; Berta Benaise and Destiny Springer, special sisters; Charlotte Tarnow, Charla May Geionety and Cindy Lussier, nieces; Ellen Rose Benaise and Alicia Gurno, and Dalilah Jourdain, nephews; Brian Brown, Jonathan and Frank Gurno, Dustin Springer, Jr., David Jourdain, Jr. and Paco Cloud, adopted nephews; Jerome Strong III, Christopher Lussier, Robert "Rob" Barrett, John Chongaila, Vern and Shane Morris, brother; Frank "Joe" Gurno, aunts; Phyllis Gurno and Shelda Lussier, uncle; Tom Gurno, and many good friends and other family members.

A wake service for Barbie starts at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 28, 2015 and will continue until the 1:00 p.m. service, Monday, March 2, all at the Red Lake Community Center in Red Lake. Father Jerry Rogers will officiate. Pallbearers for Barbie will be: Jonathan Gurno, Frank "Tank" Gurno, Brian Brown, Jerome Strong III, The Morris Boys, John Chongaila, Vern and Shane. Honorary pallbearers will be: Charlotte Tarnow, Carrie Bellanger, Charla May Geionety, Cindy Lussier, Karen and Celeste "Cookie" Goodteacher, Leslie Stone, Destiny Springer, Berta Benaise, Christopher Lussier, Joseph Maxwell, Hilary Gurno, Laberta Geionety, Frank "Joe" Gurno, Robert "Rob" Barrett, Dennis Buckanaga, Valerie "Doodles" Thompson, Ellenrose Benaise, Delores Cloud, Marlys Smith, Dustin Springer, Jr., David Jourdain, Jr., Paco Cloud, and Dalilah Jourdain. Interment will be held in the family burial grounds in Ponemah, MN.
