NETWORK ENGINEER

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY-MIS DEPARTMENT

OPEN: March 2, 2015

Primary Function:

To provide high level technical support for networking hardware, software, peripherals and network applications used by the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians. Full-time position, does not have supervisory responsibility, reports to Network Operations Manager, salary is DOQ.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties:

• Maintain the integrity and continual operation of the IT network and wireless networks.

• Responsible for analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing of network infrastructure and application components.

• Performs a wide variety of evaluation, maintenance, installation and training tasks to ensure the computer network performance meets tribal and user satisfaction.

• Ensure the continual functioning of mission critical operations

• Maintain security and privacy of the information systems, communication lines, and equipment.

• Establishes and maintains network users, user environment, directories and security and monitors the network, keeping system information up-to-date.

• Provides users with information on software/networking guidelines and follows guidelines when installing hardware and software.

• Trains users on problem areas when help is requested.

• Installs and/or updates authorized software on machines.

• Maintains state-of-the-art knowledge of new computer hardware, techniques and system design.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Working knowledge of common operating systems and software applications.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree In Computer Sciences or equivalent work experience required.

• Possess five (5) year experience supporting computer operating systems and software applications in a business environment required.

• Microsoft Certifications (MCSE; MCSA; SQL; Exchange; etc...) preferred

• Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Knowledge in the preparation of software and hardware installation.

• Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required.

• Knowledge of computer network concepts.

• Ability to install, maintain and troubleshoot a variety of computer hardware and software problems.

• Must pass DOJ and Band background check.

• Must have valid Minnesota Drivers License.
