MAINTENANCE WORKER

JOURDAIN/PERPICH EXTENDED CARE CENTER

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Jourdain Perpich Extended Care Center is seeking a maintenance worker to manage the building and grounds of a 47 bed nursing facility. The successful candidate will be a key member of a leadership team. Reports to the Administrator, full-time w/benefits, salary; DOQ.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

• Compliance with Life Safety Codes for a skilled nursing facility, including emergency preparedness, electrical safety, and compliance with all mechanical functions.

• Maintain a Preventive Maintenance system for all building systems, including boilers, air conditioners and air handling systems.

• Collaborate with IHS biomedical technicians to maintain medical equipment and other low voltage systems.

• Assist housekeeping and laundry in maintaining building operations.

• Coordinate snow removal in winter and maintain grounds in summer.

• Develop building, safety and fire safety policy and procedures.

• Maintain inventory of building parts and supplies.

• Trouble shoots minor maintenance problems involving electrical, structural, plumbing and equipment repair or replacement.

• Performs preventative building maintenance duties, caulks windows and doors, repairs and replaces broken windows

• Performs routine plumbing repairs such as unstopping toilets and sinks, fixing water leaks, and leaking faucets

• Performs routine electrical repairs such as changing light bulbs or fluorescent lamps

• Assembles and moves furniture, hangs pictures and bulletin boards

• Repairs and replaces door knobs and locks, repairs door closures, patches holes in wall.

• Paints interior and exterior walls

• Other building duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be familiar with building operations including electrical, plumbing, computers, roofing and low voltage systems.

• Must demonstrate skills in handling and organizing tools.

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, but prefer candidates with advanced training in building operations.

• Prefer two years of building operations experience or equivalent.

• Requires a current boilers license.

• Employment contingent upon successfully passing Pre-Employment Drug/Alcohol Test and Background Check.
