Rachel Lorraine Stangel, "Gaa-Ghu" of the Fish Clan, age 67, of Cass Lake, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2015 at the Augustana Health Care Center in Minneapolis. She was born on December 31, 1947 in Cass Lake, the daughter of Hartley White, Sr. and Lillian (Paper) White.

Rachel always enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. She also liked to play cribbage, cards, going to the casino and listening to her country classics.

The family that she will be joining again includes her parents; Hartley and Lillian, brothers; Joseph White, Donald Pepworth, and Jon Johnson, sister; Patrice Johnson, daughter; Constance White, and one granddaughter; Deanna Kay White.

Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory will be her significant other; Wally Smith of Cass Lake, sons; Tony (Kelly) Novak of Cass Lake, Jimmy Rowe of Minneapolis, Kenneth (Barb) Sean White of Shakopee, and Brandon White of Cass Lake, brothers; Gary Johnson of Cass Lake, and Hartley (Diane) White, Jr. of Longville, sisters; Linda Morris of Cass Lake, Donna White and her significant other Duane Kier of Longville, Peggy White of Minneapolis, Shirley White of Minneapolis, and Jean Howard of Minneapolis, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A wake service for Rachel will begin at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 18, 2015 and will continue until the 1:00 p.m. service on Friday, February 20, all at the Veteran's Memorial Building in Cass Lake. Father George Ross will officiate. Pallbearers helping to lay her to rest will be Brandon White, John Charnoski, Jr., Nathan Howard, Duane Carmona, Nicholas Howard, and Larry Wade. Alternate pallbearer will be Keith Carmona. Honorary pallbearers will be Judy Fairbanks, Maggie Day, Kelly Robinson, Gladys Chase, Shirley Young, Wyatt White, Rosalie White, and Hartley White, Jr.
