JOURDAIN/PERPICH EXTENDED CARE CENTER

Purpose of Position:

Perform a variety of cleaning tasks required light to heavy physical effort and involving the use of heavy industrial type powered scrubbing and buffing equipment to assure that the facility is maintained in a clean, safe and comfortable manner. Full-time position w/benefits, reports to Administrator, salary DOQ.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Washes windows and walls by hand or with use of powered wall washing machine.

• Shampoos rugs and carpets.

• Vacuum cleans rugs and carpets using material type vacuum cleaners.

• Washes and replaces venetian blinds and washes ceiling fixtures and room partitions, using ladders and scaffolds.

• Moves heavy furniture, supplies and equipment.

• Adjusts, cleans and oils powered equipment, changes brushes, rollers and buffers and other attachments on the powered equipment used.

• Cleans offices, storerooms, corridors, resident rooms, changes drapes and beside curtains. Sweeps, wet mops, dry mops, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors, suing brooms, mops, lightweight vacuum cleaners, floor machine, scrubbers and buffers.

• Dusts, cleans, waxes and polishes furniture. Empties and cleans wastebaskets. Polishes door knobs and other metal fixtures.

• Ensures that restrooms are maintained in a clean, orderly and sanitary condition. Cleans, disinfects and deodorizes lavatories, urinals and toilet bowls. Cleans mirrors, sinks and water fountains. Replaces deodorizers, toilet tissue, hand towels and soap. Notes condition of restrooms and reports to the Supervisor of broken windows, water leaks, clogged drains and other conditions requiring maintenance work.

• Maintains a stock of cleaning materials and equipment to perform the janitorial work. Notifies Supervisor when more materials are needed or when equipment is in need of repair or replacement.

• Assure that established Infection Control practices are maintained when performing housekeeping procedures.

• Discard waste/trash into proper containers and re-line trash receptacle with plastic liner.

• Assure work/assignments areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, are properly stored at all times, as well as before leaving such areas for breaks, meal times and end of the work day.

• Honor the residents' personal and property rights.

• Maintain the CONFIDENTIALITY of resident care information.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.

• GED/High School Diploma.

• Required to attend and participate in continuing training programs designed in your position.

• Employment contingent upon successfully passing Pre-Employment Drug/Alcohol Test and Background Check.
