ROBERT SMITH WINS THE SPECIAL RUN-OFF ELECTION

The Red Lake Nation conducted a Special Run-Off Election, Wednesday, November 19, 2014, to elect one Red Lake District Representative to a two year term. The General Election Board met today at 10:00 a.m. and certified the results declaring Robert Smith the winner with 278 votes to Donald Desjarlait 227. Members of the General Election Board certifying the election are: Barbara Cloud, Chairperson; Adelma Oakgrove, Mary Lou Stillday, Jim E. King and Kari Ann White. Mr. Smith will be sworn in at the Regular Meeting of the Red Lake Tribal Council on Tuesday, December 9, 2014.

This seat was once held by Robert Smith's Father-in-Law Donald "Dudie" May who won a four year term on July 18, 2012. Mr. May entered into eternal rest on March 8, 2014.
