Jennifer Louise (Hegstrom) Smith, 58, of Redby, MN, passed away at her home on Thursday, November 13, 2014. She was born on February 16, 1956 in Red Lake, the daughter of Patrick and Irene (Fairbanks) Smith.

Jennifer was married to Louis Hegstrom for 13 years. She loved spending time with her family and friends, she liked to rummage and attend pow-wows. Jennifer was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Patrick and Irene Smith, her grandson; Richard Strong, Jr., great nephew; David Lussier, brothers; Charles Smith, Sr. and Patrick Smith, Jr., sisters; Patricia Smith, Joanne Smith, Miriam Lussier and Cynthia Prentice.

Jennifer is survived by her daughter Elizabeth (Buffy) Hegstrom, grandchildren; Rhianne Hegstrom and Ryan Hegstrom, brothers and sisters; Valerie Johnson, Josie Smith, Gloria Smith, Phylis Smith, Patrick Smith, Richard Smith, Craig Smith and John A. Smith, special sisters; Barbara Westbrook, Doreen Wells, and Roseann Cournoyer, numerous nieces and nephews.

A wake for Jennifer will begin at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 15, 2014 at the Little Rock Center and will continue until the 2:00 p.m. service on Monday, November 17, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Red Lake, MN. Father Jerry Rogers will officiate. Pallbearers helping to lay Jennifer to rest include Jack Johnson, Mike Barrett, Jr., Dion Pierre, Todd Smith, Charles (Chaz) Smith, Randolph (Sonny) Johnson, Paul Prentice and Rodney (Mister) Prentice. Honorary pallbearers are Barbara Westbrook, Doreen Wells, Roseann Cournoyer and all her nieces. Interment will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Red Lake following her service on Monday.
