Catherine (Mish) Adams, MIZHIKWAD-IKWE, 74, of Cass Lake, MN, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 with her family by her side. Mish was born on February 24, 1940 in Cass Lake, the daughter of Charles and Margaret (Charwood) Staples.

Mish grew up at the mission with her family. She met Harold in 1958 and they were married in 1960. They had nine children. Mish worked various jobs for the rez. She loved going to the casino to play 20/20 and slots. Mish attended many concerts of some of her favorite country singers. She always watched her CMT Videos and listened to her country music. Mish loved visiting her brother and sisters. She loved seeing all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved rides on her Jazzy with her daughter Karen to her sister's house or to the casino. Mish also enjoyed attending Moon Ceremonies at her daughter Debbie's house. She also enjoyed watching the Twins and Vikings games.

Mish was preceded in death by children; Thelma and Darryl Staples, and James (Bubba) Adams, her mother Margaret and father Charles, her sisters; Betty Staples, Delores Morrow, Cecelia Drouillard, and Naomi Countryman, brothers; Charles Staples, Jr., Samuel Staples, Sr., and Richard (Dick ) Staples, son in-law; James Roper, Sr., and husband Harold (Snowmonkey) Adams.

She is survived by her children; Robert (Sandy) Adams, Karen Adams, Debra (Charlie) Adams, Jean (Jim) Roper, Kimberly (Ernie) Adams, and Kathy (James) Littlewolf, brother; Patrick (Carol) Staples, sisters; Roberta (Staples) Wind and Barbara (Jim) Perleberg-Staples. 29 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

A wake for Mish will begin at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, November 15, 2014 and will continue until the 1:00 p.m. service on Monday, November 17, all at the Veteran's Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN. Father George Ross will officiate. Pallbearers helping to lay Mish to rest include Darryl, Tom, Tim, Josh, Chris, Lil Rob, Justin and James "Beaver". Honorary pallbearers are Duck, Shine, Julio, Gordon Rogers, Jo-Jo, Koosh, Alden "Bro" Fairbanks, Carol Staples, all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alternate pallbearer is Robert Samuel Staples.
