Brenda Lynn Sayers, anaang ikwe, 46 years old of Redby, MN passed away on November 11, 2014 at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. She was born on September 3, 1968 in Red Lake, the daughter of David Jones, Sr. and Gloria (Spears) Jones. Brenda was raised by her uncle and aunt Greeting and Judith Spears since she was a young child.

Brenda liked spending time with her grandchildren and her family. She would always shop for her kids and grandchildren. She also enjoyed going to the casino, working, fishing, going for long rides, perming her hair and doing her nails, making new friends and trying new recipes. You would always find Brenda helping out anyone she could. Over her lifetime, Brenda worked numerous jobs which included security at the Pregnant Woman Program, aid at the group home and half way house, she worked at the old casino, EMT at the Red Lake Hospital for over eight years and she was currently employed at the Thief River Falls casino as EMT for a year and a half.

She was preceded in death by her parents David and Gloria, foster mother Judith Spears, grandparents, brother Ed Jones, nephew Jeremy Kingbird, niece Angel King, numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

Brenda is survived by her husband; Henry Sayers, Jr., sons; Mason (Shannon) Jones, Damien (Carol) Jones, Jared (Justina) Jones and Charles (Tyra) Kingbird, Jr., daughters; Stephanie (Shaun) Jones, and Brianna Kingbird, sisters; Karen Jones, Janice (Joe) Iceman, Gretchen (Ron) Longclaws, Mona Spears, and Sharon (Kev) Rosebear, brothers; Jerry Lee Kingbird, Sr., David Jones, Jr., Mike (Deb) Sprears, and Ole Spears, nine grandkids, other relatives and many friends.

A wake for Brenda will begin at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 14, 2014 and will continue until the 10:00 a.m. service on Sunday, November 16, 2014 all at the Redby Community Center in Redby. Anna Gibbs will be the spiritual leader. Pallbearers for Brenda will be Shaun Cloud, Damien Jones, Charles Kingbird, Jr., Mason Jones, Jared Jones, Henry Sayers, Jr., Tyrell Jones, Sr., and Don Kingbird. Honorary pallbearers are Stephanie Jones, Brianna Kingbird, Shannon E. Jones, Karen Jones, Salina Jones-Stately, David Jones, Jr., and Valencia Jones. Interment will be held at the Jones family burial grounds in Redby following the service at the Redby Center.
