Latrell John “Pete Brun” Stately, 10, “Gekek” (“Hawk”), of Red Lake journeyed to the spirit world on November 2, 2014. Latrell was born into the Bear Clan on July 9, 2004 to Lorelle Brun and Corey L. Stately in Bemidji, Minnesota.

Latrell was a student at Red Lake Elementary and was a very inquisitive and adventurous young man. He loved everything little guys do and every day was a new adventure for him. Latrell especially liked to spend time skateboarding, and made many friends of all ages at the skate park, this in addition to all of his classmates and school friends. He had a very large group of close-knit friends and relatives. Latrell was a very bright, quick-witted young man who was wise beyond his years.

Those awaiting his arrival in the spirit world are his great-grandfathers; Donald “Bo” Brun, Jerry Kingbird and Leonard Stately, great-grandmother Vivian Stately, uncles; David Stately, Shaun Stately and Arnold Rosebear and his aunt Chanelle Rosebear.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his parents Lorelle (Jim) Brun and Corey (Victoria) Stately, his brothers; Terrell Stately, Tyrell Stately, Tevaugn Stately and Brett Brun, sisters; Corie Leigh Stately, Vivian Stately and Brianne Brun, paternal grandparents; Guy “Ty” Stately and Diane Howard, maternal grandparents; Ron (Lisa) Brun and Sandra (Kevin) Rosebear, great-grandmothers; Melvina Maxwell, Rose Rosebear and Donna Spears, great-grandfather Myron Kingbird, great uncle James (Jimmy Boy) Brun, , special aunts; Roxanne Brun and Mary Brun, uncles; Talon Rosebear, Guy Stately, Jess Rosebear, Frank Rosebear, Chaise Rosebear, Brian Brun, Sr., Pat Brun, Darwin Maxwell and Curtis Jourdain, Sr., aunts; Alexis Brun, Tiffani Brun, Haylee Brun, Kalena Brun and Shalise Martin, many cousins, lots of friends and other relatives.

Traditional services for Latrell will begin at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, November 6, 2014 and continue until the 10:00 a.m. service on Saturday, November 8, 2014 all being held at the Red Lake Community Center. His spiritual leader will be Anna Gibbs. Helping to lay Latrell to rest are Brett Brun, Frank Rosebear, Gary Bruguier, Brian Brun, Sr., Guy A. Stately, Jim Garrigan, Mark Jourdain, Golden Stately, Rain Stately and John “Gotti” Sumner. Honorary pallbearers are Leshawnda Brun, Bryleigh Brun, Tara Lussier, Brian Brun, Jr., Dallis Brun, Brayden Brun, Dakota Rosebear, Lakiah Rosebear, Chaise Rosebear, Dontae Tyler, Kevin Sumner, Josh King, Jeren King, Avery King, Xavier Sayers, Kendrick Sayers, Jayden RedEagle, Trenton Holthusen, Diondre Stately, Bruce Taylor, Brandon Tahawah, Justice Iceman, Patrick Defoe, Jaden Wood, Dezmen Cook, Vincent May, Sam White, Devin Sumner, Roger Roaneagle, Evan Graves, Danielle Raincloud, and Tyrese DesJarlait. Interment will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Red Lake following the Saturday service.
