Candidate Forum held in Red Lake - P3

RED LAKE -- A Candidate Forum, sponsored by the Red Lake Political Education Committee, took place at the Red Lake Casino on Wednesday, October 22, 2014.

Taking part in the event were four-of-six Red Lake School Board candidates on this years ballot, Kathryn "Jody" Beaulieu, Chris Jourdain, Roy Nelson and Tina Stately. Missing were candidates Barb Thomas and Tom Barrett.

Nelson, Thomas and Jourdain's terms end in 2015.

School Board members each serve 4 year terms and there are six members of the board. Jourdain, however, was an appointment made by the Board two years ago when long time board member and then chairman, Arnold "Shekie" Pemberton.

Michael Barrett is the current Chairman, Rob McClain is Vice-Chairman; Barb Thomas is the Board Clerk, Roy Nelson Treasurer and Darwin Sumner and Chris Jourdain make up the six-member board.

In addition to Red Lake School Board, candidates for Minnesota House Representative District 2A and Beltrami County Attorney candidates responded to questions posed by a crowd of over 100 people.

Beltrami County Sheriff Phil Hodapp and Beltrami County Auditor/Treasurer both running unopposed, were also in attendance to the event.

The General Election will take place on Tuesday, November 4, 2014.
