(July 14, 1948 - October 18, 2014)

Kenneth "Muck" John Hare, whose Ojibwe name is "Gakaamikijiwan" which means "Waterfall" 66, of Cass Lake, MN died Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Sanford Fargo Medical Center.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Cass Lake Facility Center in Cass Lake, Minnesota with Pastor George "Boomer" Collins officiating. A wake will begin on Thursday at the Cass Lake Facility Center and will continue until the time of the service. Interment will be at the Old Agency Catholic Cemetery in Onigum, MN with military honors provided by the Leech Lake Honor Guard, and under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Cass Lake.

Muck was born July 14, 1948 in Cass Lake, MN the son of Herald and Hazel (White) Hare. He was raised and educated in Remer, MN. He served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S Coral Sea. He was part of a rescue operation to save several stranded Chinese sailors during his tour. Following his discharge, he moved to Minneapolis and married Debbie Hausken with whom he had two children, they were later divorced. He returned to Cass Lake where he worked for the Chippewa National Forest and later worked as a security guard at the Place Casino and the Cass Lake Hospital, retiring 4 years ago. He loved playing softball and played for many years. He was an avid Twins and Vikings sports fan. He liked to go to the casino and played Bingo. He adored his grandchildren, nephews and nieces. He had a big sense of humor, loved to tease, had a kind heart, and was willing to give anything to help someone out. Kenneth was proud to have been sober the last 30 years of his life.

He is survived by his daughter Wendy Johnson of Brainerd, Son – Adrian Lentz of Arizona, 6 grandchildren and a great grandson, Brothers – Ronald, Thomas, Almon, Stan, Tony and Dave Hare, Sisters- Patsy Gordon and Linda Keppers, Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Brothers- Rick and Ray, nephew Anthony Hare and niece Jessica Staples.

Active Casketbearers will be Kenny James Hare, Aaron Hare, Sr., Joshua Hare, Darrell Lyons, Adrian Lentz, John Lyons and Donovan Hare. Honorary Casketbearers will be Louis Junco, Butch Belcourt, Bro Losh and Tenants at Heritage Manor.
