Debate season in full swing

BEMIDJI -- With less than 20 days until the Nov. 4 election, a full plate of debates are slated in the coming weeks in Bemidji.

The League of Women Voters has organized multiple debates over two days starting Tuesday at Bemidji City Hall. First up on Tuesday are debates for Beltrami County Commissioner, Beltrami County Attorney, Bemidji Mayor and Bemidji City Council Member (at-large) starting at 7 p.m. On Wednesday, also at 7 p.m. at City Hall, debates will focus on Minnesota Representative for House Districts 2A and 5A.

A candidate fair and breakfast sponsored by the Red Lake Political Education Committee is scheduled for Wednesday, roughly 10 a.m. to noon, at the Seven Clans Casino and Event Center in Red Lake. The event will feature debates for Red Lake School Board, House District 2A as well as Beltrami County Attorney.

A Bemidji mayoral debate will take place at Bemidji High School at 7 p.m. on Oct. 23.

The Citizens for an Informed Electorate will be sponsoring three debate nights at 7 p.m. at City Hall on Oct. 28-30. Up first are the House 2A and 5A races Oct. 28, followed by Beltrami County Commissioner and Beltrami County Attorney on Oct. 29 and the Bemidji Mayoral and Bemidji City Council debates on Oct. 30. The audience may submit questions on notecards to the moderator.
