Woman enters guilty plea in meth trafficking case

BEMIDJI -- A Minneapolis woman who attempted to bring methamphetamine to the Red Lake Indian Reservation pleaded guilty Tuesday in Beltrami County District Court to a felony drug sale charge.

Delisha Rae Rodriguez, 25, is charged with felony first-degree drug sale, which carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a $1 million fine. Rodriguez was arrested in May when she and two men were en route from Minneapolis to Red Lake with 43 grams of meth.

One of the men, Joseph Jacob Thunder III, 47, of Redby, was sentenced to 69 months in prison in August. The second man, Alex Dejesus-Zuniga, 19, of Richfield, Minn., is scheduled for sentencing in Beltrami County on Oct. 27.

Rodriguez plead not guilty to the charge in July. She was released after posting a non-cash bond in August. Rodriguez failed to appear at a court appearance in September and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Rodriguez was arrested in Minneapolis on Sept. 28. She is being held in the Beltrami County Jail on a $50,000 conditional bond. Rodriguez is scheduled to be sentenced in Beltrami County court Nov. 10.
