Water/Wastewater Operations Specialist

Sanitation Department

Primary Function:

Perform duties involved in the construction, operation, maintenance and repair of the Water and Wastewater systems. Work involves standard testing, maintaining records, ground and building maintenance. Reports to the Director of Sanitation Department, full-time position w/benefits, salary DOQ.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties:

• Assist in the construction, operation, maintenance, and repair of wells and water towers used for the production and distribution of water.

• Assist in the taking static levels and testing.

• Assist in the construction, operation, maintenance, and repair of water mains, hydrants, water meters and other related items.

• Assist in water service connections and installation of water meters and other related work.

• Assist in keeping accurate records, reports, and logging all pertinent information required in water and wastewater treatment operations.

• Prepare necessary data reports to other governmental agencies as required.

• Assist in the construction, operation, maintenance, and repair of the wastewater treatment system which includes collection, treatment, and disposal of sludge.

• Assist in the required sampling, testing and lab work necessary in water and wastewater treatment operations.

• Assist in the operation and maintenance of al water and wastewater treatment equipment.

• Assist in the maintenance and repair of sanitary sewer mains, manholes, flow meters, lift stations, storm sewer mains and catch basins.

• Attend safety meetings as required and assist in necessary safety precautions.

• Assist in the maintenance of buildings/grounds in the water and wastewater departments and other related work.

• Perform related duties as assigned by the Director of Sanitation.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.

• Work weekends and holidays, be on call and respond to calls during non-work hours.

• Occasionally would work in high, precarious places and will be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme heat/cold.

• Lift objects ranging from 10 to 100+ pounds.

• Valid MN Commercial Drivers License (CDL) or eligible to be licensed.

• Employment contingent upon successfully passing Pre-Employment Drug/Alcohol Test and Background Check.
