RED LAKE -- A warrant has been issued for a man arrested in Red Lake earlier this month for heroin possession.
Christopher Erving Peoples, 33, was arrested Oct. 3 and charged with felony fifth-degree possession of heroin. Peoples failed to appear at a hearing in Beltrami County District Court on Monday.
On Oct. 3, Peoples was located in a basement of a residence on the 23300 block of Highway 1 in Red Lake, where officers found a digital scale, a micro bag of a brown substance believed to be heroin and numerous drug paraphernalia items. A brown powdery substance in the kitchen of the home field-tested positive for heroin. According to court documents, Peoples told law enforcement he was a user of controlled substances and had used methamphetamine and heroin the day he was arrested.
A fifth-degree possession of heroin charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
